Siminya is a new blogger living in Ankara, Turkey. She is a Journalist and a student; speaks very little English but enough to convey her message to us. She is the author of the article Cyber Sex which has probably received more attention than any article on instablogs that I have seen. If you wish to speak to her you may translate English to Turkish via the following website: http://www.hemencevir.com/ . It takes about 5 seconds to translate; just type in the box and then click on “Hemen Cevir” to translate and then just copy and paste to the comment box or to her inbox. The other click , Temizle will erase. She will reply in English, however I am searching for a website that will translate from Turkish to English. She said that she found the gesture to be “very touching” and “started to cry” and so did I. It means a lot to me to make someone happy. We, who speak English, can go almost anywhere in the world and be understood but people like Siminya does not have that luxury which makes her feel isolated from the rest of the world and so she has the opportunity here, on Instablogs to meet people from all over the world and perhaps make long lasting friends.
Translated for Siminya:
Something does get lost in translation but essence doesn’t get changed.
I have read many a books which are just translations of the original. It is thought that is important...
Since English is lingua franca and at least half of world’s population can understand and communicate in English. It doesn’t make any sense you entertain something you don’t appreciate or is difficult to understand.
It poses a serious problem, that is you need a translator always there to assist you.
Sorry, if I have hurt anyone of you, but that’s what I think.
However:
Just because most people in the world can communicate in English does not mean that I should be so arrogant and disregard people that have not yet learned English.
It makes a lot of sense to me to entertain the situation because she and I enjoyed our conversation and look forward to the next one.
I am an open-minded person and love people of all nations because we are all human. When I was in the military I enjoyed travelling to various places, meeting new people and learning about different cultures and always will.
Excellent one Bobbette!
I do regret over my previous comment, still the fact remains expression is must and it should not be compromised at any cost.
Thanks.
How do we know whats available to her? Does she have access to purchase a translator? I have been searching for one to translate from Turkish to English and have not yet. So whose to say that in her country she is able to find one to translate to English. If it is not in demand then it wont make money and therefore wont sell. The only ones I found online are those that want to charge me for each and every translation request. Of course she was able to locate a free translation for us since English is more popular than Turkey. If she had a way to put it into English dont you think she would have? I also thought it would be easier to find one here in the states than in Turkey. I can understand her well enough with the little English she knows anyway but I am still searching for one that will translate for her
I am more fluent in Hindi. What if I start typing in Hindi? Wouldn’t it restrict the comprehension of what I’ve written?
That’s what I wished to convey.
What if it is done on a frequent basis? Would that be acceptable? And please clarify what does that ”desirable” in your comment mean?
I wish language should not be a barrier, and all would express only in one language.
Thanks Siminya, that you are so much interested in interacting with all.
I think we should never create linguistic barriers but work towards breaking those barriers instead.
I think you have done a wonderful job by bringing Siminya from Ankara to Instablogs. I wonder how many of us would have done what you have done.
It is a noble gesture and deserves appreciation.
Peace, Love and Light

OK, what if she gets another of her stories published here on IB? How would you comment on that?
Just, we welcome you on IB; though we didn’t get a fig out of what you’ve written, we want your precious compilations more frequently on Homepage; you’re the opinion leader for the day and your story has been adjudged popular with most no. of comments; or some other commenter first making her appear a fool with comments like- I believe the writer sucks!, then suspecting the ingenuity of article, then suddenly rhyming in league with others; a great piece of art making all of us to nod in positive, not knowing in the least whether to appreciate it or keep mum on everything.
Hope none of my fellow bloggers would support me on this.
Anyways, thanks for everything.
Thanks.
We can agree to disagree in a respectable manner.
Furhermore I apologized to Siminya for the first comments I made on her article as I was confused about her intent. She happily accepted my apology and friendship. I know if you read through the entire post then you saw my apology but I see you didnt bother to mention that.
Another thing, why do you need ”your friends” to suppport you on this. If this is the way you feel about it what does it matter to you if other people are on your side. If you stand alone on an issue, so be it.
Desh I also stated in a commment written to you in this post that it would make more sense for her to find a way to post in English and I have found a translator for her.
My question to you is :
What is your real problem with me because somehow I think its about more than this topic. You seem to be the only person that has a problem with this. Also we can do this using our inboxes instead of this public forum; it is your choice.
OK, I understand it was a nice gesture, but would you say its comprehensible to everyone? In commenting and then translating it to Hindi, you have unknowingly limited the comprehension of that particular piece to Indians only. That’s what my point was.
Could you condescend to offer translations to all world languages, or just skip it if you come across such a situation in near future?
I just can’t believe I am the sole exception. May be, others don’t wish to disagree to your stand as it’s a risky path to tread on and in doing so you unintentionally make others’ believe that you feel a sort of hatred towards other languages. That’s what my purport was.
You’d have noticed I haven’t changed my stance a bit from first to last. It’s more advisable to you, rather.
sorry for repetition.
Honestly , I dont want to argue with you and would like for us to be friends. We dont have to agree on everything as we all are different. I do agree with you in general that for the most part postings should be in the language most used but please dont ignore someone who posts in a different language as I did when i first noticed her post. I know what it is like to be excluded, and I wont bore you with the details of that, but it hurts very much to say the least.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views, it really means a great deal to me. Whether I agree with you or not on any issue that may arise we will have learned a new viewpoint.
God bless you, wanna c’ya soon elsewhere. Good Night as it would be in your part of world. Sweet dreams.
You are simply great! This exclusive post of yours has a lot to tell those people who call themselves educated and feel blessed living in a confined space.
Besides, this is a very nice gesture and would go a long way in advocating the warm-hearted atmosphere of Instablogs.
Language is just a tool and I don’t think we need any special tool to make friends or welcome visitors; a handshake or a warm hug is enough.
